Summary:
This book was a Caldecott Medal winner. A Ball for Daisy is a wordless book, the illustrations of watercolors tell the whole story. It a story about love and loss. The pictures show a dog who loves her ball so much. Her owner takes her to the park with the ball and another bigger dog destroys her ball. Of course Daisy is heartbroken. She goes through such grief and goes home and sleeps without her favorite ball. The next day, the same dog returns with it's owner and a blue ball that they give to Daisy! Not only does Daisy have a new ball but she made a new friend. This book would be great for an Early Childhood classroom because they can relate to something that they feel attached too.

Book Review:
I personally enjoyed this book. I can definitely relate to it in some way. My dog loves her ball and it would be very sad for her if she ever lost it. On that note, children usually loses something important to them and this book shows that it ok to feel upset. The illustrations are perfect to tell the story of Daisy and her loss. Children can sense feelings looking at the book and can relate to it. When Daisy recieves her new blue ball she feels happy again. There are a lot of activites you may do with this book. You can have children predict what will happen or have them create their own story by the pictures. This book will have children engaged with the pictures and the story.
